BLM announces approval to close 47 mine hazards near Delamar and Helene
The federal notice addresses abandoned-mine safety hazards in Lincoln County; it does not establish that field work is finished.
BLM’s April 28, 2026 announcement approved permanent closure of 47 abandoned-mine hazards around Delamar and Helene. The agency described potential public-safety risks and collaboration with the Nevada Division of Minerals and Nevada Department of Wildlife on surveys and closure methods.
October 22 source review: the original announcement remains available. It is an approval notice, not a completion report. This check does not establish that all closures are finished or that old mine workings and nearby terrain are safe to enter.
