Built in 1923, the Caliente Railroad Depot is a two-story Mission-style landmark at 100 Depot Avenue. The City of Caliente's history identifies the tan-stucco building as the replacement for an earlier wooden depot that burned. Its first floor originally held the railroad station, private offices, and a community center, while the second floor included a hotel.

The National Park Service lists the depot in the National Register of Historic Places under record 74001146. The federal record classifies it as Mission/Spanish Revival architecture, names John and Donald Parkinson as its architects, and identifies commerce and transportation as its areas of significance.

What is there today

The depot now houses City of Caliente offices. Travel Nevada also describes the adjacent Box Car Museum, which preserves railroad and passenger-service memorabilia. Our August 12, 2026 check of Travel Nevada listed museum hours as Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with free admission, but public access and hours can change.

Contact and planning
