Nevada approves changes to well-driller licensing rules
Regulation R027-25 was filed September 24. The final text changes experience and exam provisions but retains a four-reference application requirement.
Nevada’s approved well-driller licensing regulation, R027-25, was filed September 24, 2026. NDWR lists that date as its effective date. The statewide rules also matter to people arranging well work in Lincoln County.
The final text keeps the requirement for at least two years of full-time drilling experience, but removes the restriction that the experience be within the preceding five years.
Four professional references are still required in the application. At least three must have been received and accepted before the written examination. This distinction matters because an explanatory webpage describes the change more simply as a reduction to three references.
The approved regulation removes the separate topographic-map test. It retains written and oral examinations and specifies denial after two consecutive failures of either examination.
This is a licensing-rule change—not a new water right, approval for a particular well, or offer of water for sale. Read the approved text and consult NDWR about individual requirements; this summary is general information, not legal advice.
