Pahranagat refuge seeks visitor-center and campground hosts

Pahranagat National Wildlife Refuge has two current federal volunteer-host listings for fall 2026: a visitor-center host role covering roughly September through November and a campground host role for September.

Visitor-center host: The refuge is seeking a single volunteer or couple. Duties include greeting visitors, answering questions, sharing safety and recreation information, and helping with cleaning, litter removal and other facility projects. Volunteers must bring their own RV or motor home and commit 24 to 32 hours per week per resident for at least three months. The refuge says start and end dates are negotiable. An RV site with electric, water and sewer hookups is provided, along with propane; headquarters has Wi-Fi, laundry and a shower. The listing says a security clearance is required.

Campground host: The September role also requires an RV or similar housing and 24 to 32 hours per week per volunteer. Duties include visitor information, brochure restocking, restroom and fire-ring cleaning, litter pickup, light maintenance, recording visitation, helping with programs and occasionally covering the visitor center. The host site includes shade, a picnic table, electricity, sewer, propane and water.
