RNDC home repair and weatherization: different help, different conditions
Both programs include Lincoln County, but rehabilitation may carry a lien while qualifying weatherization is described as free.
Lincoln County residents considering help with home repairs or energy efficiency should distinguish two Rural Nevada Development Corporation programs: homeowner rehabilitation and weatherization. RNDC includes the county in both service areas, but their conditions are different.
Homeowner rehabilitation
Rehabilitation assists qualifying low-income homeowners with health, safety, energy-conservation or accessibility needs. RNDC lists ownership and insurance requirements and says assistance is secured through an agreement and deed of trust. Its listed HMNI funding has a three-year forgivable lien.
Approval depends on regional funding and waiting-list position. Ask for the exact written terms, repayment conditions and approved work scope; do not assume all repairs qualify.
Weatherization
RNDC describes qualifying weatherization as free, without liens or financial obligations, for eligible owner- or renter-occupied homes. Measures depend on program rules, funding and the home's assessment. The program should not be interpreted as a guaranteed roof, appliance or heating-system replacement.
